Enlistment and Retention

Several methods are implemented to enhance enlistment and retention. First, potential clients are screened to determine issues that are contraindicative with comprehensive Family Behavior Therapy (FBT) (i.e., transient families with less than 4 months residence locally, anticipate moving within 6-months, no adult significant other who can at least initially attend therapy sessions with the client). Second, a telephone intervention shown to be effective in the improvement of initial outpatient session attendance of conduct-disordered and drug abusing youth (Donohue et al., 1998) is employed with youth, and a modified version of this instrument is employed with adults who have children.
